About the role

The Director of Labor & Compliance at UG2 will help lead the company's labor relations and compliance strategy, taking an active role in governance, risk management, and adherence to legal requirements. Beyond strategic planning and
contract negotiations, this pivotal role involves crafting and implementing strategies aimed at fortifying and nurturing robust relationships with labor unions, while meticulously overseeing all aspects of labor relations and compliance.
Furthermore, the position entails the development of innovative compliance programs and training initiatives, ensuring that all company practices align with the latest legal standards and ethical guidelines. The Director will also be instrumental in fostering a culture of transparency and open communication across the organization, ensuring that labor policies are clearly understood and effectively implemented.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead labor relations initiatives, ensuring effective resolution of issues while fostering positive relationships.
  • Oversee critical labor relations reporting, ensuring compliance with governance standards and legal requirements.
  • Manage and conduct detailed internal and external investigations, assessing risks and advising on resolutions of regulatory, risk, and compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, effectively managing multiple tasks and tight deadlines.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures, focusing on risk management aligned with UG2's values.
  • Conduct comprehensive compliance training, promoting a culture of awareness and adherence to labor standards.
  • Provide direct leadership in managing organization-wide risks, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Advise on labor compliance strategies and risk mitigation, emphasizing collaborative and inclusive practices.
  • Foster collaborative relationships across departments to establish trust and ensure effective labor relations management.
  • Oversee and participate in governance projects, ensuring UG2's labor practices are transparent and accountable.
  • Engage in all aspects of labor and compliance, maintaining an initiative-taking and direct approach to management.
  • Manage and enhance integrated compliance portals and systems to support efficient labor relations operations.
  • Represent UG2 at labor relations forums and industry events, promoting the company's commitment to fair and collaborative labor practices.
  • Encourage continuous learning and internal mobility within the team to foster a dynamic and skilled workforce.
  • Lead global labor compliance initiatives, focusing on inclusive practices and strong union relationships.
  • Execute special projects and provide compliance advice, demonstrating adaptability and critical thinking skills.
  • Ensure adherence to legal standards while nurturing and maintaining positive and collaborative relationships.
  • Promote an initiative-taking approach in identifying and resolving labor issues, ensuring a harmonious work environment.
  • Participate in the continuous development and implementation of risk management frameworks, demonstrating strong qualitative risk-based thinking.
  • Help manage strategic planning for contract negotiations, aligning them with UG2's long-term objectives and labor relations philosophy.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  •  Help lead and develop the labor and compliance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and initiative-taking labor relations, while ensuring that the team is well-equipped to manage complex labor issues.
  • Cultivate a team environment that emphasizes strategic thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication, ensuring that the team is capable of handling diverse labor and compliance challenges.
  • Ensure the team adheres to performance standards and engages in ongoing training and development, promoting a culture of continuous learning and skill enhancement.

Requirements (Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, Education and/or Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in governance, compliance, risk management, or audit, demonstrating a deep understanding of these functions and a strong history in leading investigations.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, Law, Compliance, Business Administration, Economics, Finance preferred but not required, emphasizing a strong educational foundation in relevant fields.
