The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to join our Cincinnati office.  

 

This role is responsible for ensuring the quality, compliance, and safety of infrastructure construction projects through field inspections, documentation, and coordination with project stakeholders. The Senior Construction Inspector serves as a key technical resource on-site, monitoring construction activities, verifying materials and workmanship, and supporting project teams to ensure projects are delivered according to plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

 

This is a field-focused position requiring strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and effective communication.

 

What You’ll Do: 

As a Senior Construction Inspector, you will oversee field inspection activities, document construction progress, and coordinate with contractors, engineers, and agencies to maintain project quality and compliance. You will also provide guidance to junior inspectors while supporting successful project delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Construction Inspection & Quality Assurance

  • Conduct inspections of civil and infrastructure construction activities including earthwork, drainage systems, concrete placement, asphalt paving, structural components, and utility installations.
  • Perform field and laboratory testing of construction materials to verify compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and schedules to ensure work aligns with design intent.
  • Calculate quantities for payment applications and verify contractor-submitted quantities.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Document daily construction activities and maintain accurate field reports.
  • Communicate inspection findings, deficiencies, and non-conformance issues to project teams.
  • Maintain organized project records and assist with project closeout documentation.

Coordination & Field Leadership

  • Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and public agencies to resolve technical issues and maintain alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior inspectors and technicians.
  • Support project managers and construction teams with field coordination.

Safety & Compliance

  • Monitor job site safety practices and report unsafe conditions or violations.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, agency standards, and regulatory requirements.


What You’ll Bring: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction inspection or construction materials testing with increasing responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, specifications, codes, and safety practices.
  • Proficiency in reading construction drawings, specifications, and field documentation.
