About the role

Schedule: Full Time | 60 hours per pay period | Day hours | Includes every other weekend and holiday

As a Cook, you’ll prepare high-quality meals that nourish and delight our residents while ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming kitchen. You’ll follow recipes, accommodate dietary needs, and help create a positive dining experience that fosters connection and community.

As a Cook at Vivie, you will:

  • Prepare and serve meals—following recipes and dietary guidelines while ensuring taste, nutrition, and presentation meet high-quality standards.
  • Support meal planning—adjusting menus as needed, preparing for the next day’s meals, and ensuring appropriate portion sizes.
  • Ensure food safety—practicing proper handling, storage, and sanitation, always following food safety guidelines.
  • Accommodate dietary needs—preparing allergen-free meals, honoring resident and customer preferences, and offering appropriate substitutions when needed.
  • Maintain a clean kitchen—sanitizing workstations, utensils, and equipment, and following best practices to keep the kitchen safe and organized.
  • Manage inventory—helping track food and supply needs, monitoring usage, and reporting shortages.
  • Foster teamwork—assisting with training and mentoring team members, helping with scheduling, and ensuring smooth daily operations.
  • Assist with special events—helping plan, prepare, and execute resident events and celebrations.
  • Other Duties as Assigned – Perform daily tasks per facility and departmental policies. Assist with resident evacuations during emergencies and secure the food service area. Support special event preparation and cleanup, collaborate with the CDM on resident events, attend required training and meetings, and assist in other areas as needed. Duties reflect the nature of the role but may not be exhaustive. 

This job also requires:

  • Previous cooking experience in an institutional or food service setting preferred but not required.
  • Completion of a state-approved food safety course (preferred).
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • A positive attitude and patience when working with residents, families, and staff.
  • Ability to pass a state-required background study.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform the duties required by the position.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English well enough to communicate with staff, residents, and visitors.
