About the role

The Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatrics is seeking a Research Program Coordinator to work closely with the Stakeholder Engagement Core Directors to organize, facilitate, and conduct a diverse portfolio of stakeholder engagement-related activities, research projects, and other projects as needed in similar roles. The Research Program Coordinator will also work within the larger AITC research center and coordinate/integrate activities across the center where stakeholder engagement is involved.


This position involves on-site, in-person tasks and responsibilities in Baltimore, Maryland. It may also involve in-person recruitment efforts in various community sites in the Baltimore Metropolitan area. One of the AITC’s missions is to address health inequities; the Stakeholder Engagement Core aims to ensure adequate inclusion of stakeholders from groups that experience health inequities.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leaders of other AITC Cores.
  • Engage Pilot Awardees to educate and advance their pilot-specific stakeholder engagement.
  • Leverage clinical and research perspectives and experience to identify and recruit stakeholders, including older adults, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, to maintain an established 10 to 12-member Stakeholder Engagement Council.
  • Administratively organize, coordinate, and conduct regular meetings with the Stakeholder Engagement Council members and prepare and update meeting documentation and related communications.
  • Develop, organize, and coordinate skills training and orientation of Stakeholder Engagement Council members.
  • Develop, organize, and coordinate stakeholder-related activities at the annual AITC meetings.
  • Develop, coordinate, and conduct online surveys for stakeholders.
  • Utilize appropriate technologies to survey stakeholders or pilot awardees including either REDCap, Qualtrics, or Microsoft Teams or related tools.
  • Engage in preparing manuscripts, data tables, figures, and references.
  • Produce public-facing materials for clinicians and patients utilizing expertise in aging experience.
  • Prepare a repository of stakeholder engagement-related materials on the AITC website.
  • Organize and facilitate engagements in the community to disseminate findings from the AITC.
  • In collaboration with the Core Directors, represent Stakeholder Engagement core and liaise with internal and external stakeholders and administrative staff within AITC and at other institutions.
  • Collaborate with other staff from the Administrative Core and other Cores of the AITC research center to provide information about stakeholder inputs as needed.
  • Coordinate and participate in AITC team meetings.
  • Actively liaise with other team members and possibly stakeholders at remote sites and coordinate meetings.
  • Prepare and maintain study documentation, including IRB submissions, financial and grant reports.
  • Track, monitor, and disperse honoraria or other budgeted funds.
  • Track project progress against milestones and manage project workflow to ensure timely and high-quality completion of milestones.
  • Facilitate or participate in engagements with pilot projects funded through the AITC.
  • Learn and utilize appropriate tools or software for project planning and communication (i.e. MS Teams, SharePoint, Zoom)
  • Help in other projects as needed for similar roles as above.
  • Engagement in other project-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Community outreach or stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Qualitative research experience, including experience developing, administering, and analyzing results.
  • Experience with surveys and/or literature review.
  • Experience working with older adults, with or without dementia, and caregivers from a clinical and/or clinical research perspective.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY ($47,840 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
