Postdoctoral Scholar-Skillset 1

Alfred University seeks qualified applicants to work in the area of ultra high temperature ceramic synthesis, processing and characterization. The project spans 5 individual project areas, with postdoctoral research associates needed with the following skillset:

• Design and commissioning of ultrahigh temperature measurements systems
  • Candidates with experience in materials science, mechanical engineering and related fields are needed to design and build high temperature materials characterization and properties measurements systems to track oxidation and thermal expansion. Activities will include design and integration of laser interferometers, optical systems, and/or direct-contact mechanical loads to understand materials responses up to ~2000°c. The PORA will work closely with faculty, other postdocs, laboratory technicians, graduate students and scientists from outside laboratories.
