A Glimpse of the Job

The Managing Director of Operations serves as a pivotal force in advancing the mission and impact of the Center for Executive Development at Mays Business School. This leader will shape the operational backbone of Executive Education through their contributions to designing systems, guiding teams, and stewarding resources to ensure every program delivers an exceptional professional learning experience. This role demands a strategic thinker who thrives in complexity, anticipates organizational needs, and elevates performance through disciplined execution and a commitment to service. The Managing Director drives operational excellence across a revenue‑generating ecosystem by optimizing processes, scaling delivery models, and partnering closely with faculty, program directors, and business development leaders to bring high‑impact executive education to life. This position supports a multi-campus and client-facing portfolio spanning Houston City Centre, Dallas–Fort Worth, College Station, and corporate partner locations. The ideal candidate brings a blend of strategic insight, operational rigor, and a passion for lifelong learning, ensuring that every engagement reflects the values, quality, and leadership ethos of Mays Business School.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.

Other Requirements and Factors:

  • This position will require regular travel between executive education delivery locations, specifically College Station, DFW, and Houston TAMU campuses, as well as periodic visits to client offices.

  • This role does require periodic evening and weekend duties and oversight of programming or events.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, program delivery, or business management, ideally within executive education, higher education, or a client-facing corporate environment

A Well-Qualified Candidate Will Also Possess:

  • Master’s degree (MBA strongly preferred, or closely related degree with managerial curriculum)

  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with conflict and disagreement while focused on the success of Mays Executive Education and the Center for Executive Development

  • Familiarity with enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM, and learning management platforms

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing complex budgets and interpreting performance metrics

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Program Delivery & Client Execution - Lead end-to-end operational execution of all executive education programs (open enrollment and custom), ensuring seamless delivery aligned with client expectations. Serve as the primary operational partner to corporate engagement and business development teams, translating client needs into effective program execution.
