We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer with a background in manufacturing processes to join our team for an exciting plant startup project. As a Mechanical Engineer in this role, you will play a critical role in designing, setting up, and commissioning the mechanical systems and equipment for the manufacturing facility. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring the successful establishment of the plant, optimizing processes, and achieving operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
1. Plant Design and Layout:
· Collaborate with the engineering and construction teams to develop the mechanical layout and design of the plant, ensuring efficient material flow and adherence to safety standards.
· Participate in equipment selection and procurement, considering factors such as performance, reliability, and maintenance requirements.
2. Equipment Installation and Commissioning:
· Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems.
· Work closely with vendors and contractors to ensure proper installation and functionality of equipment.
- Work with vendors and facilities team to size, specify, and procure equipment for plant utilities. This includes mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designs.
3. Process Equipment Design and Optimization:
· Design and optimize mechanical systems and equipment for the manufacturing processes.
· Ensure that equipment design meets regulatory and safety requirements.
4. Safety and Compliance:
· Establish and enforce safety protocols and procedures for the operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
· Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
5. Maintenance and Reliability:
· Implement reliability-centered maintenance practices to maximize equipment uptime and efficiency, including for rotating equipment.
· Work with maintenance and automation team to develop predictive maintenance KPIs as well as recommended PM frequencies.
6. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
· Identify and resolve technical issues related to mechanical equipment and systems during the startup phase and regular operations.
· Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring problems.
7. Quality Assurance:
· Collaborate with the quality control team to ensure that mechanical equipment meets quality standards and specifications.
· Implement quality assurance processes to monitor and improve equipment performance.
8. Documentation and Reporting:
· Maintain detailed documentation of equipment specifications, installation procedures, and maintenance records.
· Provide regular reports on equipment performance, maintenance activities, and project progress.
9. Training and Team Development:
· Train and mentor mechanical technicians and operators to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.
· Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the mechanical team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Significant experience (typically 7+ years) in mechanical engineering within a manufacturing environment, with specific exposure to plant startups.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, equipment design, and optimization techniques.
- Previous experience in semiconductor, solar, and/or Physical Vapor Deposition is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in commissioning and start-up activities of manufacturing plants is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices related to mechanical systems and equipment in industrial settings.
