POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Aquatics Coordinator will oversee the aquatic programs and activities at the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City. This role involves managing staff, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and promoting a positive environment for all participants. The ideal candidate will have a passion for aquatic activities and a commitment to community engagement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, implement, and evaluate aquatic programs for various age groups and skill levels.
• Supervise and train lifeguards and swim instructors to ensure high standards of safety and service.
• Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and safety of all aquatic facilities.
• Collaborate with other departments to promote aquatic programs and events.
• Manage schedules, budgets, and resources for aquatic activities.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding aquatic safety.
• Provide excellent customer service and address any participant concerns or feedback.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Must be certified in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid (Training provided by the Y if needed)
• Must be 21 years of age or older 
• Must show technical skills in swimming instruction, lifeguarding and skills in supervision of others.
• Must have personal characteristics consistent with the Character Development Values.
• Must be able to communicate with a variety of ages.
• Must possess YMCA Lifeguard Certification (or from another nationally recognized certifying organization).
• One year of previous supervisory experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of aquatic safety standards and practices.
• Previous experience in aquatics management or coordination.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
