DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The Team Lead performs expert-level support, build, and configuration for assigned Epic Willow applications (Pharmacy). Leads implementation efforts around new solutions, upgrades, and optimization initiatives specific to medication management workflows, including ordering, verification, dispensing, and administration processes.
This position provides oversight and mentorship to junior analysts while ensuring alignment with pharmacy operations, regulatory requirements, and patient safety standards. The Team Lead works closely with Pharmacy, Nursing, and Medical Staff leadership to optimize medication use workflows, improve clinical outcomes, and ensure system integrity.
The Application Team Lead actively contributes to the mission of IT and the organization by delivering high-quality, safe, and compliant pharmacy IT solutions.
SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Information Systems Executive Director Applications
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Initiates and maintains positive customer and vendor relationships.
- Serves as the primary IT liaison to Pharmacy leadership for Epic Willow Inpatient and related medication-use workflows.
- Ensures system build aligns with regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, Board of Pharmacy standards)
- Acts as a liaison with vendors and participates in vendor selection committees.
- Participates as an Epic Credentialed Trainer.
- Evaluates technology, systems, and application capabilities, analyzes workflow/data flow, and creates efficient and logical solutions.
- Plans, schedules, reviews, supports, and performs analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation of complex application systems.
- Participates in solution testing and documents clear and concise system descriptions that meet project requirements and departmental quality standards.
- Participates in problem solving with considerations of timeliness, effectiveness, and practicality when addressing customer needs and requests.
- Utilizes organizational project management methodology, processes, and systems to ensure effective and efficient project development and completion. Evaluates requests for optimization and enhancement to provide realistic timetables for completion.
- Ensures security, integrity, and privacy of Lake Charles Memorial Health (LCMH) data in conjunction with LCMH policies and procedures.
- Problem solves and generates innovative, out-of-the-box solutions in conjunction with customers, vendors, and information technology.
- Strives to promote the quality and efficiency of his/her own performance by remaining current with the latest trends in field of expertise through participation in job-relevant seminars and workshops, attendance at professional conferences, and affiliations with national and state professional organizations.
- Clearly articulate ideas and thoughts through written and verbal communications.
- Prepares professional business correspondence that is coherent, grammatically correct, and effective.
- Establishes deadlines and personal work plans to effectively manage time.
- Adheres to organizational policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
- Accurately completes and submits work and status reports in a timely manner.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree required in Pharmacy, Nursing, Healthcare, Information Systems, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Healthcare IT or Epic-certified analyst role, with strong preference for Epic Willow experience
- Minimum 3 years of leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred
- Direct experience in hospital pharmacy operations strongly preferred
- Experience with 340B workflows is strongly preferred
Licensure
- Achieves applicable Epic certification within 90 days of completing Epic training.
