Scalamandré is seeking a dedicated and organized Junior Sales Associate to join our New York showroom team. This role is pivotal in supporting our clientele and providing luxury experience, specializing in our world-renowned fabric, wallcovering, and textile collections. You will assist in the sales process from initial textile selection through order completion, ensuring a seamless experience for the interior design trade.

The ideal candidate is a polished, detail-oriented professional with a passion for textiles and interior design, possessing the ability to balance client interactions with meticulous administrative and order-processing precision.

Core Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management & Training

  • Client Engagement: Greet and assist trade clients—including interior designers, architects, and decorators—within the showroom environment.
  • Client Training: Learn to confidently train and guide clients on product collections, materials, custom capabilities, and design solutions.
  • Showroom Presentation: Assist with showroom merchandising, sample organization, and the ongoing maintenance of luxury displays.
  • Proactive Service: Support senior sales associates and showroom management with client follow-up, rapid response inquiries, and sample requests.

Sales Operations, Processing & Expediting

  • Order Processing: Meticulously enter and process client orders, quotes, and payments accurately within the company system to ensure seamless execution.
  • Order Expediting: Serve as a core point of contact for tracking order fulfillment, working closely with customer service and operations teams to expedite shipments and resolve delays.
  • Logistics & Samples: Coordinate fabric sample shipping, transfers, memo memos, and cuttings for approval (CFAs), while managing product reserves.

Multi-Showroom Coverage & Flexibility

  • Showroom Rotation: Maintain the flexibility to travel and work between the primary New York showroom and a potential new showroom lease location at 200 Lex as needed.
  • Brand Ambassadorship: Act as a consistent, professional representative of the Scalamandré brand across both physical showroom locations, market events, and product training sessions.

Job Requirements

  • Experience: 1–2 years of experience in luxury retail, showroom operations, interior design, hospitality, or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge: A genuine passion for interior design, textiles, and decorative arts. General knowledge of the industry is highly valued (a bachelor’s degree in interior design, Fine Arts, or Business is a plus, but not required).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CRM platforms, sales reporting software, and order entry systems is a strong plus.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a natural ability to build professional relationships and train clients on product lines.
  • Organization: Meticulous organizational skills with a strong focus on documentation, order tracking, and "best-in-class" follow-up techniques.
