Overview

QA inspectors will perform visual and functional inspections as well as inspections that ensure compliance with approved drawings and contract specifications.  This position requires the ability to use the CAF ERP system for various purposes, such as understanding what inspections are pending daily, modification control, NCR creation, etc.  In addition, there will be regular interactions with manufacturing to discuss safety, quality, and scheduling.

The Calibration Technician role will require approximately 50% of the workload with the other 50% dedicated to inspection activities.  This person will be responsible for understanding the CAF requirements for calibration or verification and will be responsible for controlling the status for all tools using the Visual Factory Calibre software.  There will be some tools that can be calibrated in-house and some that need to be sent to an external lab.  All of which will require a calibration certificate to be filled as evidence.

Functions and responsibilities

  • Perform detailed inspections, both visual and dimensional, using 2D & 3D design drawings and associated specifications/notes referenced
  • Utilize various computer systems such as VisPlan, 3D Experience, Baan, FastField, Cheli, etc. to look up information for inspection requirements, daily inspections scheduled, reporting results, etc.
  • Prepare Non-Conforming Reports for material issues found in receiving or production
  • Create Material Quality Reports (MQRs) that allow supplier issues to be easily shared and understood so that corrective action can be taken quickly to ensure the non-conformance does not repeat on the next delivery.
  • Identify root cause and corrective actions to improve processes and reduce risk
  • Understand the documentation requirements for all materials based on the assigned family and project documents (such as the Inspection & Test Plan)
  • Ensure tools are up to date with calibration / verification and are in good/safe condition prior to issuing to personnel after completing calibration.
  • Problems are reported in a timely fashion and escalated to the supervisor when appropriate
  • Perform in-house calibration on tools such as torque wrenches, crimpers, scales, etc.
  • Organize the shipment of tools that need to be sent out for calibration and ensure they are returned on time and in advance of hindering/stopping production activities.
  • Work directly with the calibration laboratories to ensure the proper standards are followed in accordance with CAF requirements
  • Collect data, create and report KPIs

Training required

  • High school diploma or equavalency.  A two year technical degree a plus
  • 3+ years of expereince in production or quality control preferred
  • Microsoft Excel knowledge is a must.
  • Knowledge of ISO-9001 preferred but not required
