The Opportunity
The Technology, Commercial, and Industrial (TC&I) Strategy Leader reports to the Senior Vice President of Enterprise TC&I as a key part of the centralized strategy function for the company.
The TC&I Strategy Leader aligns to one or more sectors and serves as a trusted advisor to TC&I Presidents as well as Client Segment Leaders within TC&I to develop and activate growth strategies. This position works collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders to ensure Client Segment strategies are created/aligned across Regional and Solution dimensions as well as in alignment with the enterprise strategy and each Segment’s role in the broader BV portfolio context.
The TC&I Market Sector is comprised of 2 client segments: 1) Technology (manufacturers and service providers involved with areas like datacenters and semiconductors) and 2) Commercial & Industrial (companies involved with areas like food & beverage and health & life sciences). The Sector also sponsors a number of solutions, such as electrical grid, clean transportation, and private communication networks
The Team
Enterprise Strategy is one of the 6 functions organized under Black & Veatch’s Enterprise Evolution Team. Enterprise Evolution consists of critical functions focused on identifying market opportunities and bringing together our client facing and growth efforts. Functions include Enterprise Marketing & Communications, Enterprise Sales, Enterprise Strategy, Innovation, Mergers and Acquisitions and Sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the single point of contact for the TC&I President in the cultivation of strategy for TC&I-sponsored business areas.
- Lead the development and communication of growth strategies for Client Segments, in conjunction with Client Segment leaders, including the declaration of: market drivers, alternatives, strategic focus areas, differentiators, decisions/actions, and metrics.
- Ensure growth strategies are consistent with the intended role/position in the broader BV portfolio and they clearly support the enterprise strategic direction.
- Align Segment strategies with the Next Gen strategy, Solution strategies, and Region strategies; lead workout sessions to address gaps.
- Provide program leadership to a number of stakeholders in the creation of: implementation plans, business cases, and new growth initiative execution approaches.
- Serve as a critical leader within the strategy function to onboard, train and mentor new professionals.
- Drive the evaluation of alternatives and making tradeoff choices that add the most value to the company.
- Identify valuable strategy and portfolio-related work/approaches/insights happening in one Segment and share them as opportunities with others.
- Actively monitor and report on strategy progress.
- Conduct market research, assessing and communicating key market trends and their implications on the business.
