Job Purpose and Impact

The Data Platform Engineering Associate Director will provide leadership and guidance to the data platform engineering teams across technology and business capabilities to build the foundation for modern data and analytic applications in the company. In this role, you will lead team development, cross team relationships and core technology delivery to advance the company's data platform engineering delivery. You will also provide leadership to deliver highly scalable and resilient platforms, systems and infrastructure across our data center and cloud environments.

Key Accountabilities

  • Direct a team of engineering professionals that design, develop, deploy, and enhance the new and existing platforms and infrastructure.
  • Provide leadership to deliver highly scalable and resilient platforms, systems and infrastructure and run budget for a platform and infrastructure engineering team.
  • Provide leadership to grow team capabilities, drive team goals and prioritize team resources in alignment with business requirements.
  • Influence the engineering community to ensure teams constantly learn and apply new trends and technology to handle business problems.
  • You will develop plans and deliver results in a fast-changing business and/or regulatory environment while leading and developing a team of experienced professionals and supervisors, exhibiting authority for talent management decisions related to hiring, performance and disciplinary actions. You will also coordinate subordinate managers and supervisors in selecting staff to align with current and future needs of the organization.
  • Introduce operational support best practices increasing data platform stability and performance meeting the scaling needs of our global business.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of six years of related work experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four years supervising people leaders of data/platform engineering teams
  • Experience working in a global enterprise setting managing multiple stakeholder requirements and priorities
  • Passionate for all things data and understand the art of possible in realizing unprecedented business value.
  • Excited for being a change agent; bring forward new standards and practices ensuring quality, performance, and scale to data platforms
  • Proficient with Hadoop and associated technologies such as Impala, Oozie, Hive, and Atlas
  • Proficient with Hypervisor technologies specific to Amazon Web Service (AWS)
  • Deep experience with log capturing and alerting and monitoring strategies leveraging technologies such as Datadog, PagerDuty, ServiceNow, Logstash
  • Experience leading teams with configuring/administering CI/CD pipelines leveraging anyone of the following technologies, GitHub, GetLab, Jenkins, AWS CodeDeploy, Nexus
  • Experience with workload scheduling and orchestration leveraging Airflow, AWS Step Functions, Snowflake Tasks, Oozie
  • Deep understanding of data engineering best practices related to architecture patterns supporting  varying data types, volume, and velocity
  • Experience with data storage, processing, and warehousing technologies such as Hadoop, S3, Snowflake, Delta Lake, Iceberg
  • Ability to engage senior business leaders and translate between the needs of the business and the demands/ capabilities of technologies
  • Technical background in computer science, software engineering, database systems, distributed systems
  • Direct experience having built and deployed robust, complex production systems supporting data and analytic solutions at scale

Additional Information

  • Compensation
    • The expected salary for this position is $165 - 180K. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance.
