Position Overview

The Boston Whaler Director of North American Sales will lead operational efforts that drive targeted revenue for core products (13’ – 33’). In collaboration with the Large Boat Sales Director (34’+) and through the Sales teams, the Director will contribute to the development of the strategic revenue plan, oversee the Regional Sales Managers, ensure efficient account implementation, and identify strategies and tactics for improving open and underperforming markets.  In this position, the Director of North American Sales will promote and sell our outstanding line up of boats that delight our customers and uphold Boston Whaler’s reputation for delivering award winning CSI and net promoter score.  This position will report directly to the President of Boston Whaler.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage relationships with key dealers and cultivate new business opportunities that fit with the company strategies.
  • Develop and drive dealer purchasing programs and tactics that achieve targeted revenue objectives.  Ensure deadlines are met for sales agreements, annual planning targets, exclusivity agreements, order deadline dates, dealer inventory reporting, and develop sales promotions as needed.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the sales team to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Manage the strategic direction of the Boston Whaler dealer network to optimize sales for the brand, which includes identification of distribution network white space opportunities and underperforming dealerships and development of strategies to correct or replace underperforming dealers.
  • Partner with Category Management to oversee market segmentation, forecasting, and pipeline management processes; SIOP process.
  • Works closely with the Boston Whaler Marketing department on sales and marketing tools and website content to support dealers' sales efforts.
  • Serve as internal resource to Sales, Marketing, Consumer Experience, Design, Engineering, and Brunswick Boat Group Technology Center to shape new product innovation by connecting dealer, consumer, and category insights.  Plan for dealer adoption of new product by creating and executing strategic distribution plans and assisting with product pricing on new models and existing/ongoing product and options.
  • Collects and analyzes competitive market and pricing information regionally.  Drive market share growth.
  • Manage the Sales annual budget.
  • Ability to travel 15-20% of time.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of professional sales experience, or equivalent in the marine or similar industry.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in business, marketing, or management. 
  • Knowledge and experience in organizing and leading teams, ability to positively influence others inside and outside of the organization.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic and tactical plans.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, problem solving skills, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong negotiating skills required to establish and maximize strong dealer and customer relationships.
  • Ability to build effective teams and to lead and grow others.
  • Manage multiple competing priorities through effective organization and communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong data analytical skills.
  • Ability to operate independently and take ownership of projects without close supervision and work as part of a team.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and CRM software.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $115,700 to $185,900, annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills
