About the role

The Accountant I is responsible for applying accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare accurate financial reports. This role involves reviewing accounts, managing daily invoice batches and requisitions, and collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate expense coding and financial record-keeping. The Accountant I will also assist with budget inquiries and work on process improvements to enhance efficiency.

  • Review and verify accounts in accordance with the established chart of accounts.
  • Process and review daily invoice batches and requisitions from different departments.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Requisitions, and Accounts Payable to identify and correct expense coding errors.
  • Educate internal users on common accounting mistakes and best practices.
  • Prepare and enter journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Review all financial reports to ensure complete and accurate expense recording.
  • Work with management on variance reports and assist the Finance department with budget-related questions.
  • Suggest and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 0-3 years of experience in an accounting or finance-related role.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Advanced attention to detail and a high level of self-motivation.
    • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment.
    • Solid knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in Finance and Accounting.
  • Additional Requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain licensing by the appropriate gaming authority.
