Role Summary
The Senior Director, Retirement Services will play a pivotal role in advancing National Life Group's Retirement Services division by driving operational excellence, fostering a high-performing team, and strengthening relationships with agents, employer clients, and third-party administrators (TPAs). This leader will oversee the strategic alignment of employer engagement through slot management and business development initiatives while ensuring agents and agencies are engaged through training and content by leading the Retirement Consultants and the Retirement Solutions Teams. This individual will also be responsible for mentoring team members to achieve long-term growth and succession planning.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for empowering teams with a strategic mindset, building trust, and driving measurable outcomes through collaboration to deliver exceptional service and measurable results. They will serve as a transformational leader, aligning cross-functional efforts to ensure exceptional service delivery, operational efficiency, and sustained business growth.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
- Oversee slot management, agent training, and employer engagement activities, ensuring operational accuracy and slot protection.
- Drive business development by expanding payroll slots, managing RFP responses, and executing targeted outreach campaigns.
- Oversee plan implementation and deconversion process.
- Build strong relationships with agents, employers, TPAs, and Balanced Opportunities Platform providers to enhance engagement and trust.
- Lead the retirement data efforts with the goal of leveraging data-driven insights to guide decisions, refine processes, and measure success.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and maintain seamless employer onboarding processes.
- Collaborate across departments to align strategies, streamline operations, and deliver exceptional service to stakeholders.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
Desired Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience:
- 10+ years of leadership experience in retirement plan administration, business development, or financial services, with expertise in 403(b) and 457 plans.
- Proven track record of managing teams, driving business growth, and ensuring operational excellence.
- Experience collaborating with agents, TPAs, and employer clients to enhance engagement and productivity.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in data analytics and reporting tools (e.g., Salesforce, Excel, PINS) to drive insights and decision-making.
- Strong knowledge of industry regulations (IRS, DOL, ERISA) and compliance standards.
- Exceptional relationship-building, strategic planning, and communication skills.

Strategic Leadership
- Oversee Retirement Services Teams:
- Lead the Retirement Consultants to increase the percentage of flow applications by identifying opportunities and equipping agents with tools and resources.
- Guide the Retirement Solutions team to achieve and maintain 100% plan accuracy, ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
- Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for achieving organizational goals, including doubling the retirement business through expanded plan participation and plan acquisition.
