Senior Project Manager, R&D

As the Senior Project Manager, R&D, you will lead complex, cross-functional projects that support the growth of Stryker’s Sustainability Solutions portfolio. You’ll be responsible for driving execution across R&D, Quality, Advanced Operations, Regulatory and Manufacturing teams—delivering innovative solutions that meet regulatory standards, project timelines, and budget expectations. You will play a key role in transforming ideas into reality by applying structured project management principles and fostering collaboration across global teams.

You will need to live within commuting distance to our Tempe, Arizonia office. This is a hybrid role. You will be expected to work onsite 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), with flexibility to work from home on other days.
What you will do
- Lead the team in the development of the project charter and management plan. Direct, manage, monitor, and control the project. Develop a strong business case and evaluate tradeoffs within the project.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to develop, manage, and own project scope. Create a detailed Work Breakdown Structure.
- Develop and manage the detailed project Gantt chart. Analyze critical path, major workstreams, and intersecting milestones. Own the project schedule.
- Collaborate with cross-functional managers to define the project budget. Monitor and maintain costs within budget.
- Partner with the project team to create project plans using 2–3 planning tools and techniques. Monitor and maintain plans.
- Develop a project risk management plan. Identify, analyze, and understand project risks; develop and monitor a risk response plan.
- Estimate, acquire, and assign cross-functional project resources. Define the role, responsibility, and deliverables for each team member. Provide direct feedback to functional managers on performance.
- Develop a stakeholder management plan based on the identification, analysis, and understanding of stakeholder expectations.
What you need
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 6 years of related work experience in R&D, Manufacturing, and/or Project Management
Preferred Qualifications:
- PMP or equivalent certification
- Experience with Agile and rolling-wave or waterfall planning methodologies
- Experience leading or developing projects in medical device or regulated industries
