Senior Frontend Engineer

We are looking for a senior front end developer to help work on user facing tools to visualize and process lidar and mapping data. Ideal candidate has experience with architecture and the whole lifecycle of medium sized frontend application and interest with working with 3D rendering in the browser.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and implement UI in a modular and extensible way. As a byproduct produce libraries that could be leveraged on other projects
• Cultivate best practices and mentor team members to move the envelope of how frontend is developed at Ouster
• Be able to take care of the product through every stage of the project From interaction with the product manager, implementation to deployment, maintenance and support of the product in the wild
• Work on improvements to our 3D rendering pipeline of point clouds and make sure the output is fast, functional and beautiful

PROJECTS YOU MIGHT WORK ON:

• Displaying of multi sensor data in our electron based tool Ouster studio 2.0
• Leading unification of builds and architecture of components across several projects
• Unifying our desktop and browser based tools both visually and architecturally
• Workin on tools helping with working with large maps processing in the cloud

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS in computer science or related field
• Minimum 10 years experience delivering modern browser based applications
• Our stack touches multiple disciplines so willingness to learn is essential
• Fluency in one or more frontend frameworks like React, Angular or Vue. Our stack is currently mostly React.
• Strong coding skills (JS and Typescript)
• Familiarity with Figma and principles of design. Both to consume and create Figma designs
• Experience with Electron is a plus
• Knowledge of WebGL and general interest in 3d visualization (three.js)
• Ability to write efficient fast code to support the rendering pipeline.
• Good understanding of the frontend toolchain like Webpack, Babel
• This role is frontend centric but some understanding of the rest of the stack (APIs, DBs, cloud) is beneficial
