Summary of Role:

MIPS – A GlobalFoundries company is looking for an early-career Design Verification Engineer to join our CPU verification team. This role is focused on verifying processor components with emphasis on core functionality, coherency, and cache subsystems. It’s a hands-on opportunity to grow your verification skills, work with experienced architects and designers, and learn advanced verification methodologies.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute verification plans, testbenches, and test cases to validate CPU functionality against architectural and micro-architectural specifications.
  • Create and maintain UVM/System Verilog-based verification environments, agents, sequences, scoreboards, and checkers.
  • Design and run directed, constrained-random, and regression tests to verify different features of the design module.
  • Analyze and debug simulation failures, waveform, protocol violations, and functional issues in collaboration with design and architecture teams.
  • Develop and monitor functional coverage models, code coverage, and assertion coverage to measure verification completeness and close coverage gaps.
  • Write and integrate assertions (SVA) and formal checks to improve bug detection and ensure protocol and design intent compliance.
  • Automate and maintain regression flows, test infrastructure, and reporting to improve verification efficiency, reproducibility, and turnaround time.
  • Document and communicate verification results, bug status, risk areas to the team throughout the development cycle.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education – Bachelor’s in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.  
  • Experience - Minimum 1 year of experience in RTL design verification for CPU, SoC, or related digital blocks.
  • Hands-on experience in writing assembly code for (RISC V or ARM or x86) is required
  • Hands-on experience with Verilog/System Verilog and common verification constructs.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools and flows (VCS, Questa, Xcelium, or similar).
  • Experience writing testbenches, assertions (SVA or equivalent), and functional coverage.
  • Strong debugging skills and experience triaging failures from waveform/log analysis.
  • Good knowledge of computer architecture basics (pipelines, caches, memory hierarchy, coherency concepts).
  • Fluency in English Language – written & verbal

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. 
  • Experience with constrained-random methodologies and UVM.
  • Exposure to cache/coherency protocols (MESI, MOESI, directory-based models).
  • Scripting skills (Python, Perl, or Tcl) for test automation and flow integration.
  • Experience with performance or power verification, formal verification, or hardware emulation.
  • Familiarity with CI/regression infrastructure and version control (Git).
  • Project management skills - i.e., the ability to innovate and execute solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong planning & organizational skills.

Expected Salary Range

$86,000.00 - $148,000.00
