About the role

Chemonics International is seeking a Facilities and Security Specialist. The Facilities & Security Specialist is responsible for managing a robust safety and security program at the Chemonics-Washington location by managing all corporate office safety and security contracts, resources, training, and equipment, increasing security and crisis response training and awareness, and improving the overall culture of safety and security among Chemonics employees in the Washington, DC area. This position is required to be on site daily. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors corporate office access control, closed caption television system, and visitor management system contracts, hardware, maintenance, upgrades, training programs, and compliance throughout the Chemonics-Washington facility
  • Monitors corporate office emergency notification system contracts, software, maintenance, upgrades, and compliance, and issues approved emergency alerts to corporate staff, as needed
  • Coordinates corporate office life safety program, including supporting the provision of first aid/CPR/AED certification training to staff, the maintenance and compliance of first aid kits, AEDs, and mobility support devices in the Chemonics-Washington office, and additional staff support, as needed
  • Monitors and maintains all emergency and safety equipment throughout the Chemonics-Washington facility
  • Conducts threat and vulnerability assessments and implements necessary mitigations to identified safety and security vulnerabilities and maintains the Chemonics-Washington Emergency Action Plan
  • Identifies, manages, and trains corporate floor wardens in emergency response procedures (emergency evacuation, shelter-in-place, medical emergency, and active threat)
  • Coordinates internal evacuation and shelter-in-place procedures and local emergency response, as needed, with internal and external stakeholders
  • Develops and facilitates extensive corporate office safety and security training for relevant staff
  • Manages the Chemonics-Washington emergency operations center in support of the corporate crisis management team, as needed
  • Conducts in-depth investigations of alleged or actual safety or security violations at the corporate office (workplace violence, threats, theft, intimidation, suspicious behavior, assault, etc.)
  • Ensures the corporate office complies with all applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards/regulations
  • Interacts with Chemonics-Washington property management company to ensure necessary safety and security emergency resources are always available and operational
  • Builds and maintains a safety and security resource network across Washington D.C. and maintains close and continuous relationships with local organizations and individuals related directly or indirectly to security concerns in Chemonics-Washington area
  • Participates in drafting, developing, and recommending corporate policy refinements based on both best practice and company wide safety and security needs
  • Approves invoices from third party vendors and delegates for processing
  • Fosters and demonstrates a workplace inclusive of creating opportunity, serving others, building trust, innovation, and exceeding expectations
  • Advises and provides guidance to Facilities and GSSD on local security matters
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • Minimum 3-4 years of operational, risk, or security management and/or technically relevant work experience
  • Relevant university degree (BA/BS) is preferred
  • Requires deep knowledge within security or project management typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience
  • Experience with DataWatch (access control, CCTV, visitor management) and Everbridge/Alertus (emergency notification systems) software implementation and utilization is preferred
