Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.
About the Senior Network Engineer Position
We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Network Engineer to join our dynamic IT team! As a Senior IT Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in implementing, and continually improve systems reliability through preventive maintenance, feature enhancements, automation, and support contracts. This position provides effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of network hardware and software and related infrastructure across IT and OT environments, two primary data centers, and 17 Industrial Data Centers and 200 WAN locations. The Senior IT Network Engineer ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational standards.
What You Get to Do:
- Responsible for network systems planning, design, implementation, configuration, and support.
- Continually acts to improve network systems reliability through preventive maintenance, feature enhancements, automation, and support contracts.
- Install new and rebuild existing networks and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, encryption, etc. in accordance with standards and project / operational requirements.
- Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures and network system standards.
- Perform daily system validation, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, network resources, critical systems, and key processes, reviewing network system and application logs, and verifying acceptable functional levels of all communications systems.
- Manage small to medium scale projects from conception to completion including timeline, internal/external resources, and budget.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for network administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage resources and provide economies of scale.
- Provide technical leadership and expertise, acting as a SME and internal consultant to peers, less experienced Engineers and to the business.
- Analysis and proposals for enhancements to enterprise and OT environments.
- Aid in the implementation of enterprise and OT security solutions.
What You Bring to the Table:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education.
- Ideally, 8 years of experience with increasing responsibility in the implementation, administration, and management of complex technology infrastructures.
- Ability to travel to remote business locations as required. Travel estimates are less than 25% of the time.
- Certifications such as CCNP, CCNA, RHCE, VCAP, VCDX, and/or NCP.
- Mastery of Network management and security, VMWare Network and/or UNIX knowledge, and strong knowledge of Secure network practices.
- Expert in Datacenter (Cisco ACI and VxLAN) networking, expert in Enterprise and/or OT networking, and strong WAN network knowledge.
- Extensive knowledge of Network Protocols, knowledge of PKI, SQL Server, and security products, and strong in IP subnetting.
