Job Description:

The Sterile Equipment Technician is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of reusable medical instruments and equipment, ensuring patient safety by maintaining strict infection control practices throughout the process at the St. Petersburg Dental Center.

Duties include:

• Operating and monitoring steam autoclaves, sonic washers, and other sterilizing equipment.
• Preparing, inspecting, and assembling trays or packages of items for sterilization.
• Collecting, cleaning, and disinfecting patient care equipment, laboratory equipment, surgical instruments, tools, and other miscellaneous equipment.
• Cleaning the sterilizing equipment.
• Responsible for proper packaging, sealing, and return delivery.
• Maintaining necessary supply levels in sterile storage areas.
• Recording sterilizer test results.
• Stocking and keeping an inventory of crash carts. 

Expected Salary:

$15.00 - $17.00 per hour; commensurate with education and experience

Required Qualifications:

A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)

Preferred:

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control practices
• Ability to operate sterilization equipment safely and effectively
• Basic understanding of dental terminology
• Manual dexterity for handling delicate instruments
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
