Overview
The Accounting Manager will be assisting the Finance Department with completing various Regulatory and Financial Reports as needed for the Bank. The Accounting Manager will also assist with the Month End close process. Responsibilities will include completing various Regulatory filings including the Quarterly Call Report, preparing internal monthly financial statements and overseeing the Month End close process. The Accounting Manager will also assist with various system implementations and other duties as needed by the Finance Department.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assumes responsibility for the effective performance of accounting department functions in assigned areas.
- Ensure that various regulatory reports are completed accurately and promptly. Some of these regulatory reports includes the Call Report, FR Y-6, FR Y-9, FR Y-10 and Statement of Deposits.
- Prepare the month end Financial Statements for the Bank while ensuring that the Bank is completing transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, established procedures and applicable regulations.
- Prepare the monthly Financial Close package which includes the Financial Statements, fluctuation analysis and Certifications.
- Prepare the Annual Report and Proxy Statement for external auditors and investors.
- Oversee internal and external auditors along with external tax accountants.
- Assist in the preparation of internal and external reporting and audit prepared schedules as requested by regulators, external auditors and executive management.
- Assist the Bank with ensuring the Bank is FDICIA compliant.
- Assist with the ALCO reporting package for ALCO committee.
- Review and recommend improvements to streamline internal controls and key business processes. Participate in the documentation of accounting process narratives and help implement procedures to continue to increase efficiencies.
- Prepare various schedules for outside auditors and tax accountants. Research accounting and tax related questions.
- Perform other projects and duties within the Finance / Accounting Department as assigned by the Interim CFO.
- Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective business relations with vendors, governmental agencies and outside business and accounting professionals.
- Respond to questions and problems politely and promptly.
- Ensure outside contracts are properly informed.
- Ensure the Bank’s professional reputation is projected and maintained.
- Assumes responsibility for maintaining effective communication and coordination with Company personnel and with management.
- Assist area personnel and related departments as needed.
- Maintain contact with other departments to correct any transactions.
- Maintain accurate and organized records and submit reports on time.
- Keep management informed of activities and any significant problems or concerns.
- Attend and participate in meetings as required.
- Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
- Stay informed of developments in accounting and banking field requirements.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
