This is a full-time onsite position.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Removal of non-native, invasive plants primarily via chemical and manual methods
Instillation of native out planting and maintenance of irrigation systems
Propagate and maintain native plants in a remote island greenhouse setting
Monitor the success of restoration
Perform surveys for threatened and endangered flora and fauna
Navigate and map various plant species using GPS
Identify maintenance needs of equipment, e.g., pumps, engines, trailers, and vehicles
Travel up to 50%
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Biology, Ecology, or related Natural Resources field required
2+ years of experience with coastal California biological resources, specifically central and southern California coastal plant species and vegetation communities
Possession of a California Department of Pesticide Regulation Qualified Applicator Certificate
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to identify common local vegetation types including both native and non-native plant species in a variety of habitats throughout California
Experience with dichotomous keys such as those in The Jepson Manual

Clearance Requirements:
US Citizenship required
Physical Requirements:
Must be comfortable working outdoors and may be exposed to typical field hazards such as poison oak, ticks, and other nuisance species
Office work entails stationary sitting positions up to 20% of the time
Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer
Must be able to move weight occasionally up to 50 lbs. at a time
Must be able to traverse outdoors in rugged uneven terrain at night
Must be able to ope
