THE JOB:

The Director of Facility Operations oversees and manages all aspects of back-of-house operations, ensuring seamless performance during both event and non-event periods. This role encompasses leadership and direction for facility services, housekeeping, engineering, ice operations, and loading dock operations. Maintaining alignment with organizational objectives and standards. The Director is accountable for executing departmental activities in adherence to the company’s mission, core service values, budgetary parameters, and overarching business goals, fostering operational excellence and ensuring a high-quality experience for all stakeholders.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

• Develop and monitor fiscal budgets to align with profitability goals while optimizing financial performance.
• Oversee facility operations and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, safety, and compliance.
• Direct guest service standards for arena and plaza operations and manage diverse technical trade teams.
• Develop and enforce SOPs for critical functions, including engineering, maintenance, housekeeping, NHL Ice Operations, and loading dock logistics. Plan, coordinate, and supervise activities for sports, entertainment, and third-party events, managing cleaning personnel, operational budgets, and staffing.
• Recruit, train, and evaluate teams and service providers, ensuring adherence to service agreements and high performance.
• Implement inventory and purchasing systems, oversee shipping/receiving, and ensure regulatory and safety compliance.
• Provide technical expertise to address maintenance and landscaping needs while upholding company policies and collective bargaining agreements.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• The ideal candidate for this role is a highly skilled facilities and engineering professional with a bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• They bring over 4 years of proven management experience in facilities or engineering within a sports or entertainment venue.
• This individual has extensive expertise in repair and preventative maintenance of facilities equipment, including kitchen equipment, gas, steam, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• They possess in-depth knowledge of ice preparation and maintenance, ice plant operations, and associated preventive maintenance and repair processes, ensuring seamless event operations.
• With strong communication skills, they can effectively interact with diverse stakeholders, including senior management, promoters, suppliers, guests, and government entities.
• They are adept at building and maintaining productive relationships with local fire and police departments and other regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance and safety.
• This candidate demonstrates flexibility and commitment, readily adapting to varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, both on property and off-site, as required to meet operational demands.
