VS (Vehicle component Solutions) Company (https://www.lg.com/global/mobility) of LG Electronics focuses on commercializing environmentally responsible automotive components and core solutions based on LG’s proprietary technologies. A leading provider of core components for global car manufacturers, VS Company is supporting the emerging trend of the vehicle industry.
As the Sr. Manager of Development Engineering you will:
- Lead development planning and manage multiple feature milestones
- Identify and manage all project development quality aspects before, during, and after development
- Understand team responsibilities and advise team members in both short‐ and long‐term contexts
- Manage OEM customer design requests, develop APQP, and coordinate 3rd‐party solutions
- Manage software and hardware issues, communicating with the customer to resolve them
- Release weekly progress reports and communicate with customer engineers
- Coordinate with LGE HQ function domains (not limited to a single program)
- Support resolution of business, manufacturing, and technical issues
- Identify and manage feature‐related issues; publish weekly status reports
- Support cross‐functional teams (Validation, Manufacturing, Procurement/Purchasing, Sales, and Quality)
- Act as the lead for development work priorities and serve as the main technical contact for customers
- Decide most program‐development items, with manager review if necessary
- Collaborate with Software/Hardware Project Leaders to plan or revise technical development
- Follow the customer’s acceptance process in addition to LG’s internal development process
- Influence functional specifications and target schedules in product development (VS business division)
- Contribute to longer‐term plans aligned with organizational vision
- Seek effective ways to implement functions that save resources and prevent repeated issues alongside engineers
- Propose ideas during planning; escalates to the Director for approval
- Assign action items to the relevant engineers for execution
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or VP
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 10+ years of relevant experience including;
- Building/leading technical teams for embedded systems
- Working in or with distributed engineering teams, sales, quality, and customers
- Ability to:
- Drive and/or test in a vehicle
- Lift/carry up to 30 lbs (samples, boxes, tools)
- Bench setup (up to 25 lbs)
- Sit/drive/test vehicles for up to 4 hours at a time
- Interact with displays/center controllers/steering wheel while driving or during stationary testing
- Manage multiple technical projects simultaneously, delivering on cost, quality, and timing
- Recognize and mitigate technical/organizational challenges
- Excel in written/oral communication with transparency
- Lead and manage engagements with customers (mainly internal), collaborators, and 3rd‐party developers
- Demonstrate expertise in managing multiple technical projects with agreed‐upon cost/quality/timing
- Plan and coordinate cross‐functional teams
- Knowledge of:
- Vehicle Infotainment, Telematics, and Vehicle interface technology
- Automotive materials or new technologies
- Product life cycle from ideation to design, prototype, and production
- Passion for technology and problem‐solving
- Strong commitment to quality and detail
- Desire to learn new areas and unfamiliar technologies
- Travel: Up to 30% (domestic/international) for cust
