The Vice President - Credit Officer plays a critical role in evaluating and approving credit applications, managing credit risk, and ensuring adherence to internal policies and regulatory standards. This position involves assessing the creditworthiness of both individuals and businesses, overseeing existing credit portfolios, and providing strategic recommendations to support the financial institution's lending operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Credit Evaluation and Approval:
- Review and analyze credit applications to assess the creditworthiness of applicants.
- Conduct in-depth evaluations of financial statements, credit histories, and other relevant documents.
- Provide recommendations for approval or denial of credit based on risk analysis and institutional policies.
Risk Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and manage risks associated with credit portfolios.
- Monitor the performance of existing credit accounts to ensure compliance with agreed terms.
- Conduct regular credit reviews and adjust credit limits as necessary.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure all credit-related activities adhere to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards.
- Prepare and present detailed credit reports and analyses to senior management and credit committees.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of credit evaluations and decisions.
Customer Interaction:
- Communicate with applicants and clients to gather necessary information and explain credit decisions.
- Provide guidance and support to clients on credit-related matters and offer solutions to address concerns.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with departments such as Risk Management, Collections, and Sales to ensure cohesive credit management.
- Participate in training and development programs to stay informed on industry trends and best practices.
Problem Resolution:
- Address and resolve issues or disputes related to credit approvals, payments, or account management.
- Implement corrective actions and recovery strategies for problematic accounts.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA) are a plus.
- Proven experience in credit analysis, lending, or a related financial field.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in financial analysis software and tools.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and industry practices.

- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
