We are looking for a Senior Feedstocks Shipping/Operations Manager to join our BASF Intertrade team in Houston, TX.

BASF Intertrade (GPT) is active in the trading of petroleum, petrochemical, and associated products. As the global trading organization of the BASF group, the company is a major player in global commodity markets. You will be part of a global team, with offices in Zug (Switzerland), Singapore (Singapore), Shanghai (China), and Houston (USA), thus supporting BASF being represented around the clock in all major commercial hubs.

As a Senior Feedstocks Shipping/Operations Manager you will support the corresponding value targets of the company by ensuring cost efficient logistics and implementing innovative supply & trading concepts. Working closely within the global feedstocks team, you will be responsible for end-to-end operations activities, including such fields of work as: charter party negotiations, demurrage handling and contract management.

As a Senior Feedstocks Shipping/Operations Manager, you create chemistry by...

 

• Driving and supporting Supply & Trading concepts through control and optimization of the logistics chain, as well as supporting Trading in derivative and physical transactions.
• Gathering of market intelligence as well as providing advisory services to trading about logistics solutions.
• Fostering relations to internal and external business partners, as well as working across time zones with global trading, operations, and chartering stakeholders.
• Ensuring a flawless paper trail for executed transactions, and compiling reports and maintaining, gathering and analyzing data for various purposes (e.g. record keeping, documents filing accuracy, database management).
• Planning and organizing inventory and supply planning.
• Providing interface function to back offices of counterparties, and supporting the interface to Finance and Accounting (Invoicing, A/R, A/P).
• Managing operative tax and customs issues.

If you...

 

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of activity (e.g. supply chain) and/or 3+ years’ experience in a commodity trading company or a related industry (e.g. midstream or shipping).
• Have experience with maritime operations in a trading environment
• Possess proven knowledge of trading environment and related internal processes, as well as knowledge of the shipping industry, operations and supply chain management.
• Demonstrate strong organization, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to manage internal and external interfaces
• Are knowledgeable in languages additional to English, it would be highly valued
• Have a team mindset, are resilient and agile
