Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Join a high-volume team in the Department of Ophthalmology’s Retina and Retinal Disorders & Ophthalmic Genetics clinic in Westwood! We’re looking for a skilled and dependable Ophthalmic Technician Lead to provide patient care and support daily operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinating patient care and clinic flow
- Overseeing daily back-office operations and exam room readiness
- Providing technical support for Ophthalmologists and Optometrists
- Maintaining the perimetry and OCT/topography labs
- Training and supporting ophthalmic staff
- Assisting with process improvements and quality initiatives
- Supporting special projects as assigned by the Practice Manager
Salary Range: $40.02-52.79 Hourly
Job Qualifications

Required:
- Current certification as Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT).
- Minimum 5 years recent experience providing technical support in an Ophthalmology practice.
- Skill in acquiring accurate medical history, measuring, and recording visual acuity, and tonometry.
- Familiarity with signs and symptoms of various ophthalmic problems to answer patient-related questions and triage calls when urgent evaluation is required.
- Knowledge of the operations and maintenance of patient-related testing equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to promote comfortable, cooperative and effective working relationships with patients, physicians and staff.
- Ability to identify and define complex problems and develop and implement solutions for quality and process improvement.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills to effectively coordinate and promote the patient care activities.
- Skill in setting goals which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities and the strategic priorities of the clinic.
