Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Export, Customs and Sanction Compliance (SMECSC) is part of the global Export Control function and will support the Vice President of Export Control Compliance (VPECC) in the development of Policies, Procedures and Assurance to enhance business wide compliance, fit for One Aerospace as we go forward. 

This role will also have responsibility, on a matrix basis (and in respect of which reporting to and under the instruction of the Vice President Corporate Risk Management, Assurance, HSSE, General Counsel, and Global Functions for providing specialist Export Control, Customs Compliance, and Sanctions knowledge, guidance, advice and oversight to Operations (functional aspects only, e.g. supply chain management, manufacturing engineering) and Global Functions (finance, IT, HR, Procurement, CTO).

Job Responsibilities

The Senior Manager, Export, Customs and Sanction Compliance has accountability for:    

• Lead the development of the Export Control and Customs Policy, Procedures, Assurance Framework and Compliance Program in conjunction with the VPECC.
• On a matrix basis, ensuring the implementation of the Export Control and Customs Policy, Procedures and Compliance Program within Operations and the Global Functions.
• On a matrix basis, leading the development, implementation and oversight of any Operations and Global Function procedures, guidance, training and communication required to implement the Export Control and Customs Policy, Procedures and Compliance Program.
• Preparation and management of regional procedures, guidance, training, and communication materials consistent with the Export Control and Customs Policy, Procedures, and Compliance Program.
• Demonstrating excellent leadership capabilities including facilitating the smooth operation of a matrix way of working.
• Provision of subject matter expertise to the Vice President Corporate Risk Management, Assurance, HSSE, General Counsel, and Global Functions, and advise him/her on global initiatives across Operations and the Global Functions.
• On a matrix basis, build strong relationships, contribute effectively and proactively to Operations and the Global Functions performance in an advisory and expert capacity on Export Control, Customs, and Sanctions matters through leadership on the understanding of export control, customs, and sanction regulations. 
• Liaison with VPECC and other Senior Export Control and Import Managers on GKN Aerospace-wide compliance matters and initiatives applying across GKN Aerospace Business Lines.
• Conducting periodic risk assessments on the status of export control, customs, and sanction compliance across GKN Aerospace and (on a matrix basis) the collation of Operations and Global Function compliance information and reporting to the Vice President Corporate Risk Management, Assurance, HSSE, General Counsel, and Global Functional Leaders. 
• Leading investigations into export control, customs, and sanction non-compliance, providing oversight and tracking of reports and investigations, review and approval of draft disclosures and tracking closure of corrective actions across GKN Aerospace. 
• On a matrix basis, responsible for Operations and the Global Functions communication with regulators, or communication with regulators in the SMECSC’s region, as appropriate depending on the relevant matter.
• On a matrix basis, ensuring that all necessary export control, customs, and sanctions authorizations are in place to support the activities of Operations and the Global Functions and, where required, region.
• On a matrix basis, lead the identification, training and development of the Export Control Facilitator (ECF) and customs compliance network in Operations and the Global Functions.
• Monitoring and keeping up to date with the export control, customs and sanction regulations of all countries with which the organization conducts business, including assessing the impact of each.
