UCCCC has one of the largest cancer clinical trials programs in the country and in the Chicago area with nearly 500 adult and pediatric therapeutic trials actively accruing patients. Many of these studies are investigator-initiated, including Phase I or I/II trials, demonstrating UCCCC commitment to translate basic research findings to the clinic through proof-of-principle and early phase studies. UCCCC opens over 250 new trials each year and accrues approximately 900 participants to therapeutic trials each year.
Job Summary
The Assistant Director will provide direct management and oversight of the clinical trial finances for the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCCCC) within the BSD. The incumbent is accountable for administrative and financial management operations, including the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to report accurate financial results.
The Assistant Director will report directly to the Senior Director, Cancer Clinical Trials Support Office within UCCCC and will work as an integrated part of the Clinical Trial Financial Group (CTFG). This position will also work collaboratively with faculty, department administrators, UCMC, and other BSD leaders.
Responsibilities
Liaise with UCCCC and Departments to develop Multidisciplinary Disease Teams (MTDs) program accounts and ensure proper funds flow across clinical trials accounts and recharge accounts.
Oversee the overall clinical trial financial portfolio for the entire Clinical Trials Program in the Cancer Center, which includes funding from many different sources (industry, grants, philanthropy, etc.).
Works closely with UCCCC Operations, UCCCC Regulatory, and URA to meet NCI designated start-up timelines.
Collaborates with institutional stakeholders to prioritize UCCCC strategic plans and goals.
Coordinates with other departments/units/divisions regarding multi investigator grants, multi-site IITs, and single-site IITs.
Liaise with UCMC and UCCCC stakeholders to ensure that oncology billing grids/MCA process are harmonized with our ERX treatment builds in new upcoming CTMS.
Liaise with UCCCC Quality Unit during the pre and post award management of IITs. Helps facilitate sub-awards and site payments.
Liaise with UCCCC Quality Unit to assess the complexity of an IIT and the required budget to cover QU support.
