The Opportunity

Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments, and informatics systems is often the first step in patient care decision-making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers. 

Our Core Diagnostics team is hiring for a Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing. This role will be working with the commercial business unit owners and global marketing for AAS (Abbott Automation) and DHS (Digital Health) and others as assigned in order to appropriately contract for those goods, software and services. The role will also engage with legal, finance, demand planning, purchasing, production scheduling, inventory management, customer service, engineering, quality, regulatory, freight and logistics and warehouse as needed to bring executable supply relationships to existence based on commercial need.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and partners with key stake holders across the entity to meet business objectives
  • Provides thought leadership to Commercial partners to create contracts which align with operational and supply chain requirements while meeting commercial and customer requirements. 
  • Develops a culture of continuous improvement, professional growth, cross functional/cross divisional collaboration and goal planning and execution.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to develop and communicate plans which ensure entity resources are optimized and service levels are not sacrificed and adequate inventory exists to support the organization.
  • Develops options, analyzes team recommendations and then prepares, presents, obtains buy in and negotiates strategies with key partners and suppliers. 
  • Exhibits a high degree of professionalism to represent Abbott at the highest level of supplier management.
  • Identifies and implements actions to maximize synergistic opportunities across divisions where possible.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. 
  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or Supply Chain related body of knowledge.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Masters Degree Preferred

Experience/Background

  • Minimum 12 years of Supply Chain (planning or procurement or distribution or plant supply chain) experience with pattern of progressing responsibilities. 7 years leading Supply Chain teams. 5 years of experience in the Medical/Healthcare industry. 7 years of experience working with Supply Chain/Operations.
