Company Description
Provides leadership, oversight, project and team management for business development proposals. Directly manages a team dedicated to specific line(s) of business to prepare, write, produce, and submit timely, compliant, and persuasive proposal documents after thorough review and analysis of corresponding requests for proposals. The Director of Proposals guides proposal project teams to collaborate closely with internal operations to create accurate and descriptive portrayals of our company and services.
Job Description
- Assigns resources to support proposal creation, managing multiple schedules and timelines.
- Maintains relationships with key corporate and regional stakeholders, such as executive leadership, executive directors, and regional directors.
- Innovates, creates, develops, and presents strategies to maintain current business and gain new business.
- Works with Development leadership and other key leaders to drive decision making related to proposal strategies and content.
- Continually engages throughout the organization to keep up to date on capabilities, offerings, and outcomes, which are populated in the proposal content library on a regular basis.
- Ensures external resources are appropriately engaged and managed for all proposal development activities.
- Ensures all proposal content is compliant with requirements and ensures any identified gaps in content are closed.
- Participates in reviews to ensure strategy and content cohesion throughout the response.
- Serves as escalation point for decisions, issues, and risks to support quality and performance standards, enforce deadlines, and maintain compliance.
- Serves as project manager, content developer, or business analyst as needed for key projects to prepare responses to RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, BAFOs, and non-RFP requests, including white papers, marketing materials, and presentations.
- Directs the efforts of, and works cooperatively with, a team to produce timely and compliant final products including narrative and pricing.
- Ensures that all internal timelines and external deadlines are met.
- Ensures that all finished proposals and related documents contain all required information and documentation.
- Works creatively with operations to assist in response design, including strategic alignment with funding customer goals.
- Conducts research, analyzes data, and adapts findings to develop persuasive and customized proposals.
- Reviews, edits, and occasionally revises responses from contributing writers.
- Assists with identifying new business opportunities and provides information for operations to make bid decisions.
- Aligns projects with company mission, vision, philosophy, and branding.
- Ensures narrative content and budget details are aligned.
- Works to develop individual and team skill sets, providing support in goal setting and attainment.
- Collaborates regarding enterprise-wide proposal process as part of the department leadership team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent significant work experience required.
- Experience working with MS Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel required; experience with Document Sharing Systems strongly preferred.
- Minimum of two years of relative work experience.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with personnel at all levels, from administrative support to subject matter experts to the CEO.
- Strong leadership, organizational planning, prioritization, and time management skills; the ability to multitask and work against strict deadlines.
- Flexibility in the face of rapidly changing circumstances.
- Strong reading comprehension and writing skills.
- Strong project management skills with high personal accountability.
- Must be organized and able to work with accuracy and efficiency on multiple projects with multiple teams simultaneously.
- Experience in a deadline-driven environment with high attention to detail and compliance.
- Experience in collaborative document construction and revision (may include grant writing).
- Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and possess a quality customer service attitude.

- Must be able to flex schedule in relation to workload demand.
