About the Chelsea Veterans Home:
The Veterans Home at Chelsea is a state-funded, fully accredited health care facility that offers veterans quality health care, including full-time residential accommodations, and provides educational and social services for Veterans in the Commonwealth. The Veterans Home is staffed by approximately 330+ administrators, clinicians, nurses, certified nursing assistants, skilled trade, dietary staff, housekeeping staff, contractors, consultants, and general administrative personnel. The Home addresses the needs of a wide variety of veterans, including 24/7 care and treatment for terminal illness to the provision of residential, social, and educational services. Comprehensive inpatient and outpatient medical services are provided to these veterans in need. The patient population is generally categorized into the following categories: Alzheimer/Long Term Care; Domiciliary (residential). This is an open and continuous posting for Full and Part-Time positions on our Evening and Night Shifts
The Veterans Home at Chelsea is seeking nursing professionals for our Registered Nurse I (RN) position for 2nd and 3rd shift. The RN I is the first level in the series and is responsible for providing overall exceptional patient driven care and support to veterans in order to effectively evaluate medications and/or treatment regimens. The role will support, educate, direct and guide the performance of LPN, CNA and administrative staff, while communicating information in a clear and constructive manner to patients and their families.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
- Provide exceptional nursing care and oversight by assessing health care needs to ensure the prevention of illness and the promotion of health maintenance
- Dispense medications and perform treatments in compliance with policy and procedures
- Collect health and status data for individuals
- Ensure information is documented, communicated, and made readily accessible
- Identify acute problems and initiate intervention or referrals for needed medical services, confirming that follow-up care is pursued
- Support nursing leadership and training for staff; serve as an advocate to ensure individuals receive appropriate health care treatment, health education, and other health related services
- Serve as a first responder for behavioral or medical crisis situations
- Support and respond to emergency situations involving serve and violent behavior
- Maintain individual records and files; performs data entry of medical information
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of standard nursing policies, procedures, methods and techniques
- Ability to maintain accurate records and exercise discretion in handling confidential information
