JOB SUMMARY:

Manages the technical aspects of all assigned entertainment projects and/or venues, within schedule, financial, and show quality requirements, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful completion. Manages assigned personnel and communicates successfully within the department and to leadership.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
    • Responsible for managing the day to day technical operation of any assigned entertainment project and/or venue including management of all employees in each technical entertainment discipline assigned providing project direction, coordination, and instruction. These disciplines include, but are not limited to, rigging, staging, lighting, audio, scenic, special effects, and show control.
    • Responsible for the appropriate staffing of all assigned entertainment projects and/or venues to include identifying staffing requirements, interviewing, and selecting candidates in coordination with appropriate stakeholders within the Entertainment division.
    • Provides direct guidance and support to Entertainment Supervisors within the assigned areas. Responsible for ensuring that assigned team members maintain compliance with all policies and procedures as defined by the Technical Entertainment department, Universal Orlando Resort, and NBC Universal.
    • Responsible for providing timely feedback on personnel performance and discipline matters.
    • Works in conjunction with the Manager and Senior Manager in developing and implementing strategic plans to include incorporation of best practices and lessons learned.
  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT
    • Coordinates with internal and external partners, team members, guests, and outside vendors as necessary to support completion of capital, marquee, and other assigned projects, representing Entertainment interests. Such partners may include, but are not limited to, all Entertainment Technical disciplines, Entertainment Events, Entertainment Production, Entertainment Art & Design, Entertainment Operations, UO Events Management, UO Tech Services, UO Rev Ops, UO PR & Marketing, UO Facilities, UO Attractions Operations, EHS, and Universal Creative.
    • Oversees completion of work by vendors or internal partners (horticulture, sign shop, figure finish, tech services, security, UO works, rev ops, park ops, EHS) as required to meet deadlines and/or reduce out-of-show times. Quickly identifies issues, providing resolution when possible, and/or appropriately escalating issues to ensure successful completion.
    • Ensures the completion of all assigned projects within the pre-determined schedule, financial, and quality requirements.
  • COMMUNICATION
    • Responsible for effectively communicating necessary information which pertains to assigned projects and/or venues to necessary parties outside the Entertainment Department as well as upper management and employees within the Entertainment Department.
    • Responsible for ensuring the completion of all necessary reports and schedules to indicate the health and status of assigned projects and/or venues.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience in entertainment, hospitality, and/or technical fields preferred.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, One Note
  • Preferred Experience: AutoCAD, Sketchup, Bluebeam
