People who understand the role nutrition takes in health care and healing are becoming more and more necessary. Patient nutrition assessments and care plans need to be developed by knowledgeable clinical dieticians. Dieticians who can also communicate those plans to the care team and educate the patient and family about them. There’s no doubt that clinical dieticians are a key team member in the health care offered at Franciscan Health – a place where we believe that faith is part of everyone’s healing.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Nutritional Needs Assessment Assesses patient nutritional needs, diet restrictions and develops a dietary care plan.
Nutrition Counselling Counsels individuals and groups on basic rules of proper nutrition, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring to improve quality of life.
Patient Education & Dietary Planning Advises patients and their families on nutritional principles, dietary plans and diet modifications, and food selection and preparation.
Collaboration & Consultation Consults with physicians and Healthcare personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patient or client.
Special Diet Counselling Provides nutritional counseling on special diets to ensure proper preparation and consumption of nourishment.
Group Session Facilitation Plans and conducts special need group sessions for weight reduction and control.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Bachelor's Degree
Registered Dietitian (RD) - State Licensing Board
