Job Description

Workplace Violence Prevention Program Coordinator

About the Position: The incumbent chosen for this position will oversee the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of workplace violence prevention strategies at the Facility level across the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse. This position plays a key role in identifying potential risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, providing training, and fostering a safe and supportive environment for all staff. The coordinator works closely with multidisciplinary teams, facility leadership, and external stakeholders to promote a unified and proactive approach to workplace violence prevention. This position will be embedded a The Oklahoma Forensic Center, in Vinita, OK with occasional travel requirements to Central Administration in Oklahoma City, OK.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and:
    • Level II: two years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of professional experience for each year of required education,
    • Level III: three years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of professional experience for each year of required education,
    • Level IV: four years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of professional experience for each year of required education,

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Prior experience a healthcare setting creating and managing Workplace Violence Prevention initiatives and trainings
  • De-escalation and Assaultive Behavior Mitigation training (or similar crisis intervention training)

Special Requirements:

  • Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license
