Senior Design Manager, Storefront
DoorDashAbout the role
About the Team
The Storefront (also called Restaurant Services) team empowers restaurants to start, operate, and grow their businesses efficiently with white-labeled services. Our products enable restaurants to build their brand and connect directly with loyal customers. We provide the commission-free technology they need to serve guests and manage operations—from online ordering and phone AI agents to loyalty programs. We work at the intersection of the digital and physical world, and the team oversees both the consumer and merchant sides of the experience.
About the Role
We’re looking for a design leader who will spearhead this exciting 0-to-1 space. You will manage a team of 7-8 talented product designers. We expect this role to be hybrid, working 1-2 days a week from one of our Design hubs.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…
- Partner with cross-functional teams like Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Operations to define the vision and strategy for our Restaurant Services products.
- Actively practice and evangelize customer-centric thinking throughout the entire org.
- Partner with the design leadership team to build a holistic design strategy for the 3-sided marketplace ecosystem.
- Align the team’s priorities and deliverables to our overarching strategy and goals.
- Manage, develop, and hire a team of talented product designers.
- Coach and mentor designers on both soft and hard skills and help them develop and achieve career goals.
- Build a culture that elevates the team, in terms of both performance and morale.
- Establish an operating model that increases the team’s effectiveness.
We’re excited about you because…
- You have 10+ years of experience in design, with 3+ years in team building and people management.
- You have a track record of delivering well-executed products and driving meaningful business impact.
- You thrive in disambiguating and innovating the 0-to-1 space.
- You’re a playmaker, not just a role player. You visualize and articulate a clear design strategy to cross-functional partners.
- You are experienced in managing executive leadership.
- You are skilled at building a high-performing team and attracting top talents.
- You are a culture carrier and a good mentor.
