About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled JuniorĀ Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our team and support our pediatric dental practice. This role is essential in creating a positive and stress-free environment for our young patients while ensuring smooth operations across our 5+ practices in Brooklyn and Queens. We are looking for a patient-focused, detail-oriented individual who excels in working with children and collaborates effectively with a dental team to provide exceptional pediatric care.

Hourly rates start at $18 / hour. Candidates with meaningful experience can earn higher compensation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the dentist during pediatric procedures, including cleanings, sealants, fluoride treatments, fillings, and extractions.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and organizing materials tailored for pediatric patients.
  • Ensure a child-friendly environment by helping young patients feel comfortable and easing dental anxieties.
  • Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays) with care and attention to young patients' comfort.
  • Educate parents and children on proper oral hygiene, diet, and post-treatment care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including documenting treatments and monitoring oral health progress.
  • Support the application of space maintainers and other pediatric appliances as needed.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
  • Stay updated on best practices and techniques in pediatric dentistry through continuing education.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) credentials or equivalent certification.
  • X-ray certification and CPR certification preferred.
  • Experience working with children in a dental or healthcare setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in assisting with pediatric dental procedures and using child-friendly dental tools.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to connect with young patients and their families.
  • Commitment to providing a caring and supportive environment for children.
