Austin Telco is looking for experinced and exceptional individuals for a Senior Collector position with a passion to help build a better future for the communities we serve and for themselves as career-oriented people. Summary:  Maintains day-to-day collections procedures and serves as a backup to the AVP of Collections. The Senior Collector will serve as a liaison between the AVP of Collections and other members of the department while ensuring that all processes are handled in a timely fashion. The Senior Collector will monitor and control loan accounts in all phases of delinquency, adhering to procedures established by Austin Telco Federal Credit Union and identifying problem loans.  


**We are offering a sign-on bonus for the selected candidate. **


Compensation:

The range is between $43,000 - $55,000, commensurate with experience.

**$250 sign-on bonus with your first paycheck and another $250 bonus after completing 6 months of employment with us**.

Schedule:

Applicants for this position must be available to work in person Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Must effectively carry out the essential duties and responsibilities of this position in a manner that consistently demonstrates Austin Telco’s mission and culture in a positive manner. Other duties may be assigned. Included, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitors consistent daily follow-up of all past due and delinquent accounts.
  • Utilizes telephone and email contact with members as pertains to their delinquent accounts. 
  • Counsels members on the importance of maintaining a good credit rating. 
  • Researches delinquent accounts for posting errors and corrects errors.
  • Refers and/or confers with Director of Collections (daily) on any problem accounts.
  • Monitors files, prepares collections and/or mails letters of late payments on accounts.
  • Obtains credit reports as required.
  • Maintains liaison with loan officers to apprise them of pertinent information. 
  • Submits updated/corrected credit information to credit bureau. 
  • Monitors repossessions, bankruptcies, charge-offs, and Collateral Protection Insurance as assigned/needed.
  • Performs clerical duties and daily mail.
  • Uses cross-selling to inform all members of all credit union services available to them at every possible opportunity.
  • Completes documentation for loan extension and collection refinances.
  • Monitors loans as assigned or needed.
  • Monitors towing notifications and act accordingly. 
  • Monitors Comptroller freezes, Attorney General freezes, garnishments, tax liens, IRS levies, HOA past due assessments, receiver's orders, and temporary injunctions.
  • Pre-foreclosure on Home Equity
  • Prepares charge-off and trustee check payments for posting.
  • Prepares loan documents for scanning. 
  • Being able to make decisions within your role using your best judgment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

  •  Bachelor's degree (B.A) from four-year college or university; or 
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Knowledge of laws regarding reposses
