Senior Power Electronics Electrical Engineer

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Senior Power Electronics Electrical Engineer. The Senior Power Electronics Electrical Engineer is responsible for electrical hardware design and development of On-Board Charger & DC/DC Converter products for automotive applications. Additionally, will train and mentor less experienced engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Support product development, such as documentation of hardware requirements in order to develop products that meet customer design requirements
• Analyze, simulate, perform verification testing and documentation on analogue and digital circuits to support Power Electronics circuits, power supplies, intelligent HSD or LSD driver circuits, I/O signal conditioning and filtering circuits
• Create circuit schematics and associated technical documentation
• Perform electrical circuit analysis, worst case circuit analysis (WCCA), circuit simulations, power dissipation calculations, DFMEA, and schematic capture
• Apply theoretical and practical knowledge of electrical engineering in laboratory environments to verify, validate and improve product designs
• Formulate mathematical models to characterize power circuits
• Support multi-disciplinary design groups related to packaging and mechanical design of electrical components & products
• Communicate project technical status internally and externally
• Some travel and a flexible work schedule on occasion

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or electrical related
• Preferred MS specializing in power electronics.
• 5 years engineering industry experience (8+ years preferred)
• Preferred prior automotive industry experience
• Desire to be part of deeply skilled team and to engineer automotive power electronics for the next generation of electrified vehicles, while working with some of the world’s top automakers
• Knowledge of power electronics circuits and operation for hybrid electric automotive applications
• Knowledge and familiarity with high voltage power semiconductor device technology such as Silicon IGBT, SiC MOSFETs
• Knowledge of electric and hybrid electric vehicle drive systems and applications
• Preferred experience in power electronics design for hybrid electric vehicle applications
• Preferred experience with circuit schematic & PCB layout CAD tools
• Preferred excellent oral and written communication skills
