Boeing St. Louis is building the future ‒ creating innovative solutions that will define the next generation of aerospace.  We are currently seeking F/A-18 Fatigue Tracking Engineers (Levels 2-3) to perform structural fatigue analysis and individual aircraft fatigue life monitoring (fatigue tracking) - the intersection of data analytics, software development, and structural analysis. The selected candidate will join a team whose primary product is fatigue tracking software and the resulting structural analyses.

The selected candidate should have existing skills or a strong interest in:

  • Software development of large complex source code which measures and simulates airframe loading and calculates fatigue damage at hundreds of locations, on thousands of aircraft.

  • Statistical and Numerical analysis methods, including data mining / data science

  • Simulation and re-creation of air vehicle flight events and loads from recorded data.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops, integrates and documents structural requirements to establish the system design.

  • Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment.

  • Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.

  • Develops test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

  • Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.

  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment.

  • An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • (Level 3) 5+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelors OR 3+ years of work-related experience with a Masters OR work-related experience with a PhD

  • (Level 2) 2+ years of work-related experience with a Bachelors OR a Masters

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Data analytics experience using R, Python, or MATLAB

  • Code development experience using Fortran (legacy or modern)

  • Metal fatigue analysis knowledge/experience

  • Bash shell scripting experience

  • Code version tracking experience using subversion (SVN)

  • Experience working in a diverse Integrated Product Team (IPT)

  • Strong oral and written communications skills

Typical Education/Experience:

Level 2: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Level 3: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
