The Membership Platform Department (MPD) is thinking big: we create scalable platforms that power the Rakuten Ecosystem worldwide. In our department, you will join a global team of experienced technologists who build the foundation of our services.

 

The Registration & Authentication Section aims to enhance Rakuten services with an accessible, reliable, and innovative Registration and Authentication service. Our 2024 strategy includes the following:

- Ensuring a dependable platform and migrating all services to Omni UI.

- Automating and self-servicing onboarding through the Membership Self Service Portal.

- Keeping up with competitor functionalities via our Account Security Program.

- Introducing innovative features like Passwordless, Certified IDentity, and AI.

- Leading and setting new market standards in the long-term.

 

Overall Position Details
As a hands-on fullstack developer, you will use your development skills to build applications, by working on requirements (gathering, definition), the entire test plan (functional, operational, failure, load, etc.), risk assessment, release judgement, and reviews (design, test plan, test result). You will also come up with innovative ideas to help the product and the team, in order to improve overall efficiency of the team.

Your responsibilities will be as follows:

 

- Develop software solutions, respond to requests for business requirements, design, coding, testing, and release, as well as maintenance of software programs and applications.
- Collaborate with the team, and other stakeholders to deliver features with quality and speed.
- Take responsibility of the product, perform maintenance, monitoring, identifying issues and problems, troubleshooting and bug-fixing when needed.
- Be proactive in performing system improvement (e.g. refactoring, adopting appropriate technologies and system architecture).
- Grow team members' technical and product development skills, by mentoring.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Help identifying issues or problems occurring in a system, and fixing them.
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Designers ensuring great UI/UX.
- Maintain and oversee code cleanliness by defining guidelines and conducting code reviews.

 

Additional Information
By joining our Group, in charge of Access Management and Session Management, you will be ask to play a leading, senior role in the software engineering of our Session Management solution.

 

Having a deep understanding of the different Token solutions and the different workflow and technologies revolving around AuthN/AuthZ for Authentication, Authorization and Access Management is strongly recommended.

 

Ex: OpenID Connect, OAuth2, PoP, universal token...

 

Mandatory Qualifications:
- Experience of at least one of the major/modern computer languages including but not limited to Python, C/C++, Java, or Go, etc. (8 years+)
- Experience in Docker container technology and its related ecosystem, such as Kubernetes, etc. (3 years+)
- Experience in Restful-API development (3 years+)
- Comfortable in developing software/system with good observability from the very beginning
- Understanding of security measures

 

Desired Qualifications:
- Comfortable with Agile practice
- Strong sense of ownership and motivation to drive tasks to completion
- Experience in working with microservices architecture (2 years+)
- Understanding of network stack knowledge (HTTP(S), TCP/IP, etc.)
