About the role

The Automation Technician at Moriroku Technology North America, an automotive manufacturer, is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production automation equipment while following all MTNA safety policies and procedures, and supporting the achievement of MTNA business goals. 

  Key Responsibilities:  

  • Install up to 480-volt 3 phase electric, compressed air, processed water, and other utilities as needed in the installation of injection molding, paint, and assembly equipment 
  • Ensure that machines are calibrated to OEM specifications to meet production requirements and quality standards 
  • Setup of 3-Axis & 6-Axis robot programs for part take out & gate cut programs 
  • Ability to maximize cycle times for robot programs for optimal output of product 
  • Work with Allen Bradley, Keyence, and other similar PLCs for production equipment 
  • Program vision systems (cameras/sensors) for inspection of production parts 
  • Support changeover process on Vibration, Ultrasonic, and Infrastake welders 
  • Build End of Arm Tooling (EOAT) and gate cut equipment for injection molding processes based on part specification drawings 
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery in accordance with production and scheduling needs 
  • Monitor the condition of equipment via measurements, documentation, and diagnostic processes 
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, PLC, camera, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on manufacturing equipment 
  • Troubleshoot & repair 3-Axis/6-Axis robot equipment 
  • Troubleshooting ladder logic software to ensure uptime of production equipment 
  • Participate in crossover activities in other departments to enhance efficiency of production  
  • Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance, maintenance repairs, and other maintenance activities, in accordance with ISO and IATF standards 
  • Follow standard operating procedures for equipment maintenance, safety protocols, and documentation best practices 
  • Utilize Microsoft suite software and general computing skills to assist in the documentation process 
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards and environmental regulations 
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures in accordance with company and OSHA guidelines 
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed in accordance with company policies and legal guidelines 
  • Communicate with other departments within the facility to address production needs, in both written and verbal communication 
  • Communicate effectively within the department to coordinate maintenance repairs and activities, in both written and verbal communication 

 

Skills/Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical certification or degree in industrial automation or robotics preferred 
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to perform repairs 
  • Proven experience in industrial automation, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment 
  • Experience with injection molding is a plus 
  • OEM Certifications from industry manufacturers such as Keyence, Cognex, Allen Bradley, Yaskawa/Motoman, Fanuc are optional but preferred 
  • Operation of tools & equipment frequently used for repairs 
  • Mechanically inclined 
  • Fabrication of various products using tools/equipment (drill press, lathe, etc) 
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) 
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, and vision systems 
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints 
  • Walking/standing for 8+ hours daily 
  • Repetitive motions (bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, lifting, etc.) 
  • Lifting to 50 lbs. 
  • Ability to work overtime as required 
  • Strong written & communication skills 
  • Detail-oriented 
  • Strong prioritization & decision making of tasks 
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 

 

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and various materials.
  • Requires standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Full-time, with potential for overtime based on product
