About the role

This position is for our Cigarette Category Manager.


Position

Triumph Energy’s Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing category strategies that drive sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction across all our convenience store locations. This position analyzes sales trends, manages vendor relationships, negotiates product programs, and ensures the optimal placement and merchandising of assigned product categories. The Category Manager works closely with operations and store leadership teams to support company objectives and enhance the overall customer experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement category management strategies to maximize sales, gross profit, and market share.
  • Analyze sales, margin, inventory, and market data to identify opportunities and trends.
  • Manage product assortment, including new item introductions, product rationalization, and seasonal offerings.
  • Negotiate pricing, promotional programs, rebates, and vendor agreements. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and distributors. 
  • Develop pricing strategies that remain competitive while achieving profitability goals.
  • Coordinate promotional calendars and merchandising initiatives with marketing and operations teams.
  • Monitor inventory performance and collaborate with supply chain partners to minimize out-of-stocks and excess inventory.
  • Evaluate industry trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities.
  • Ensure planogram compliance and consistent execution of category initiatives across store locations.
  • Support new store openings, remodels, and category expansion projects as needed.
  • Travel to store locations to evaluate category performance and execution standards.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Experience in convenience store, fuel retail, grocery, or food service operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret sales and financial data.
  • Experience negotiating with vendors and managing supplier relationships. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business tools.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel regularly to store locations and industry events.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout store locations during site visits.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
