    High School Degree required, Associate degree in graphic design preferred

     

  • Work Experience
  •  

                A minimum of two years of professional graphic design and production

     

  • Other Qualifications
  •  

    • Must have the ability to work and relate well with people.
    • Must have excellent computer skills with working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Working knowledge of graphic designing software, specifically with a MAC computer.
    • Required to have skills and abilities in the following areas: Page Maker, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Flash.
    • Must be well-versed in direct response mechanisms including direct marketing, digital campaigns and media campaigns.
    • Familiarity with the latest trends, technologies and methodologies in graphic design, web design, production and related fields.
    • Must have the ability to handle sensitive issues with diplomacy and tact.
    • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and written
    • Must be flexible to work various hours.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license
    • Must be able to life and carry up to 40 lbs.

  • Principal Functions
  •  

    The graphic design and media specialist will design and produce high quality, professional media (print, web) to enhance communication with the general public and potential supporters.

     

  • Duties and Responsibilities
  •  

  • Design and produce media.
  •  

  • Research and make recommendations related to outside printing jobs. Manage the production schedule and quality control of both external and internal print jobs.
  •  

  • Maintain and operate within the Graphic/Marketing budgets, including pricing and promotional discounts
  •  

  • Develop the overall layout and production design for advertisements, brochures, magazines, corporate reports and any other layout requests.
  •  

  • Collaborate with Chief Operations Executive and other key staff to develop communications and social media strategy by maintaining an understanding of the current membership experience, program offerings an center-wide priorities and goals.
  •  

  • Craft the internal and external communications plan related to membership experience, program offerings and center-wide priorities.
  •  

  • Assist with the planning, designing and execution of marketing plans that increase membership sales revenue and revenue generated from the use of the Boston Kroc by outside groups.
  •  

  • Manage graphic design of internal and external marketing communication devices with The Salvation Army Boston Kroc Center staff and/or vendors.
  •  

  • Design website communication so that it is attractive, professional, integrated, and in keeping with Salvation Army standards.
  •  

  • Work with key staff  to create and modify external and internal promotional print media including newsletters.
  •  

  • Modify images for onsite media screens and other Social Media Network sites.
  •  

  • Engage social media followers on a consistent basis and create more visibility for the Boston Kroc Center.
  •  

  • Increase social engagement by providing followers and community with weekly updates on all social media platforms including: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Blog and Hootsuite.
  •  

  • Maintenance of website and other digital social media platforms.
  •  

  • Research and development of graphics and typography related to digital media.
  •  

  • Provide department’s image graphics for promotional purposes.
  •  

  • Cataloguing and archiving of graphics and images.
  •  

  • Design layout of all products used as collateral.
  •  

  • Production of quarterly brochures.
  •  

  • Be aware of and follow all Salvation Army policies regarding graphic design standards as demonstrated in the Red Shield Toolkit (see attachment) – red shield logo, national tag lines, etc
  •  

  • Maintain equipment connected with this role with care, making recommendations for updates, replacements, and secure storage
  •  

  • Assume Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities when scheduled
  •  

  • Perform other related duties as directed.
  •
