Position Summary

The Temporary Senior Accountant will support the Foundation’s FY25 accounting close across all four entities. This role reports day-to-day to the Foundation’s Accountant, with overall accountability for deliverables to the Director of Finance. The position requires strong technical accounting skills, autonomy, and the ability to manage complex reconciliations with minimal oversight. We anticipate the term of this temporary assignment to be approximately two months.    Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for preparing reconciliations and roll forwards for all balance sheet accounts, including cash, investments, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, intercompany balances, liabilities, and equity.
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations in QuickBooks, with supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of final FY25 trial balances and tie-outs, ensuring completeness and accuracy of all supporting schedules and GL tie-outs.
  • Support the setup of opening balances in the Foundation’s new QuickBooks file for FY26, aligned to the new chart of accounts and class structure.
  • All work must meet audit standards and follow the Foundation’s templates and reconciliation protocols.  
Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on accounting experience, with a focus on full-cycle close and advanced reconciliations across multiple entities and asset classes.
  • Must have QuickBooks Online experience
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to build and manage complex audit-compliant reconciliation schedules and rollforwards.  
  • Experience reconciling multi-entity balance sheet accounts, including investment accounts with capital calls, distributions, and unrealized gains/losses.  
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, nonprofit accounting principles, and general ledger tie-outs.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal oversight.  
  • Prior experience supporting audit preparation and coordinating deliverables internally/externally

  • As the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation is located in a historic building, entrance to the office requires the ability to walk up 13 steps.
  • While largely sedentary, this position requires the ability to sit, stand, lift up to 20 lbs, as well as speak, and hear, sometimes for extended periods of time.
  • Requires the ability to use a computer and office equipment traditionally found in office.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated compensation for this position is between $65.00 - $80.00 per hour, contingent upon experience.
