What You’ll Do
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and medical procedures.
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care from patient intake through discharge.
- Obtain patient histories, vital signs, and thorough patient assessments.
- Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, and diagnostic sample collection.
- Obtain high-quality radiographs and maintain hospital imaging standards.
- Assist with diagnostic testing and other clinical procedures.
- Utilize Fear Free and low-stress handling techniques to support patient comfort and safety.
- Educate clients with compassion, clarity, and confidence regarding patient care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventive healthcare.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and treatment documentation.
- Keep treatment and exam areas clean, organized, stocked, and ready for patient care.
- Follow infection-control and hospital safety protocols.
- Collaborate with veterinarians and teammates to maintain an efficient, positive workflow.
What You’ll Bring
- Safe and effective patient handling and restraint skills.
- Strong knowledge of preventive care, vaccines, and patient wellness.
- Proficiency with venipuncture, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, and sample collection.
- Experience obtaining high-quality radiographs and supporting diagnostic imaging.
- An understanding of pharmacology and safe medication-administration practices.
- The ability to accurately triage patients and obtain thorough medical histories.
