- Provides guidance and tools for career development/management of team members including coaching, mentoring, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions and other employee related activities.
- Conducts one-on-one performance reviews and quarterly career development check-ins for direct reports.
- Collaborates with other departments to implement strategic goals for the company including but not limited to pricing, client profitability, automation of processes, reimbursement analysis, A/R days
- Works in partnership with other departments for education on patient billing policies and process improvements.
- Oversee the operational activities related to billing and LIMS processes, ensuring that all areas are functioning effectively to meet department goals.
- Sets, maintains, and monitors billing system configurations (including pricing, test codes, payers, modifiers, etc.) to facilitate the submission of clean claims.
- Works closely with software vendors to ensure proper system implementation and use, resolving technical issues as needed.
- Ensures system configurations are kept up to date to maintain operational integrity.
- Reconciles and collaborates with operations to ensure smooth interface between lab data and billing systems (e.g., HL7, clearinghouse, payer systems).
- Analyze billing and revenue cycle data to identify areas of improvement and develop strategies to address them.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to billing and revenue cycle management.
- Collaborate with other departments, including clinical operations and finance, to ensure that billing and revenue cycle activities are aligned with overall organizational goals.
- Stays up to date with changes in billing and coding regulations and guidelines and communicates any changes to the billing and revenue cycle team.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of CPT codes, medical terminology, insurance plans, ICD 10 codes
- Must have ability to adapt to a fast paced, dynamic environment
- 8+ years’ experience in a clinical laboratory preferred, especially genetic billing
- 5+ years’ experience in revenue cycle management
- 5+ years’ experience with XiFiN software.
