The Assistant Vice President – Relationship Manager is responsible for overseeing and strengthening client relationships, ensuring exceptional service and compliance with all contractual obligations. This role involves managing a team dedicated to servicing client accounts, identifying client needs, and developing strategies to meet those needs while maximizing client satisfaction and retention. The AVP – Relationship Manager also collaborates with internal teams to align services and support with client expectations and business goals.

  • Train, guide, and manage team of Portfolio Analysts or Client Relation Managers, providing ongoing feedback and conducting annual reviews.
  • Monitor portfolio reports to ensure compliance with CRG policies and procedures.
  • Assist staff in servicing loans according to all applicable loan documents, agreements, laws, and Berkadia procedures, ensuring timely processing and compliance.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of loan documents, lender agreements, and servicing contracts to administer loans effectively.
  • Administer daily loan portfolio activities, including payment status, collection calls, fund research, and borrower compliance, addressing any non-compliance or defaults.
  • Collaborate with functional business units to process borrower requests and administer loan requirements, including reserve draws, tax payments, and insurance maintenance.
  • Provide detailed referral requests to other servicing departments for transactions requiring lender consent.
  • Manage and escalate complex issues requiring higher-level decision-making within Berkadia or external consent.
  • Lead special projects and additional work-related duties as required, including reviewing future funding draws and preparing recommendation packages for lenders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrates adherence to Berkadia’s policies, a high level of competence in Microsoft Office, and proficiency with mortgage industry-specific software such as McCracken Strategy and intranet-based workflows.
  • Exhibits a strong customer service focus within risk management and asset management roles, coupled with excellent communication skills for clear and effective interaction across all organizational levels.
  • Possesses strong organizational skills, outstanding attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
  • Skilled in analyzing property operating statements and rent rolls to assess asset performance, manage stakeholder expectations, and maintain a proactive, autonomous work ethic while collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar position
